Custom Website Development for Small Businesses
Hand-coded websites built for speed, search visibility, and AI readability. No WordPress, no templates, no page builders. Every site is mobile-first, loads in under two seconds, and includes structured data from the start. You own every file.
$500 -- $5,000+ depending on scopeWhat You Get With a Custom Website
Every website we build is written by hand in clean HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. There is no WordPress installation to maintain, no theme to update, no plugins to break. The result is a site that loads faster, ranks better in search engines, and is significantly easier for AI systems like ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews to read and recommend.
Each project includes responsive design that works on every device, SSL security, domain configuration, structured data (schema markup) for search engines and AI, and a Google Sheets content management system that lets you update your own text, images, and information without touching code.
We serve small businesses in Huntsville, Walker County, The Woodlands, Conroe, and across Texas. We also work with clients outside of Texas who need a developer they can trust to build something that actually works.
How Much Does a Custom Website Cost?
Website pricing depends on the number of pages, the complexity of custom features, and whether you need ongoing maintenance. Here are the general tiers:
Starter
Single-page site or landing page. Ideal for new businesses that need a professional online presence fast.
Professional
Five-page business site with structured data, contact forms, and Google Sheets CMS. The most common package for local service businesses.
Business
Multi-page site with custom features, portfolio sections, blog integration, and advanced schema markup. For established businesses ready to compete in AI search.
Enterprise
Custom web applications, payment systems, client portals, dashboards, and complex integrations. Scoped and quoted per project.
All pricing is one-time. There are no monthly platform fees, no subscription charges, and no recurring costs unless you choose to add ongoing maintenance. See the full breakdown on our pricing page.
How the Process Works
Step 1: Discovery. We discuss what your business needs, who your customers are, what services you offer, and what you want the site to accomplish. This conversation usually takes 30 minutes.
Step 2: Mockup. We build a visual mockup of your site before writing any production code. You see the layout, colors, and structure before committing. Changes are easy at this stage.
Step 3: Revisions via Google Sheet. Instead of endless email threads, we set up a shared Google Sheet where you can request specific changes. This keeps everything organized and nothing gets lost.
Step 4: Development and launch. Once the design is approved, we build the production site, configure your domain and SSL, add structured data and schema markup, and deploy. Typical turnaround is two to four weeks.
Step 5: Handoff. You receive the complete source code, a walkthrough of how to update content through Google Sheets, and documentation for your hosting setup. The site is yours.
Why Hand-Coded Instead of WordPress?
WordPress powers a large percentage of the web, but it comes with trade-offs that matter for small businesses. WordPress sites depend on plugins for basic functionality, and those plugins require constant updates. When a plugin breaks or a theme update conflicts with your setup, your site goes down until someone fixes it. That someone usually charges hourly.
A hand-coded site has no plugin dependencies. It loads faster because there is no bloated framework, no database queries on every page load, and no third-party scripts slowing things down. Google's Core Web Vitals scores are consistently higher for hand-coded sites, which directly affects search ranking.
For AI search specifically, clean HTML with proper heading structure and embedded schema markup is significantly easier for AI crawlers to parse. When ChatGPT or Perplexity reads your site, it is working with the raw HTML. A hand-coded page gives it clean, structured content. A WordPress page gives it a wall of plugin-generated markup that obscures the actual information.
Bottom line: A hand-coded website costs about the same as a quality WordPress build, loads faster, ranks better, is easier for AI to read, and does not require ongoing maintenance fees to keep running.
